Last night we had a rare rough night with DD. I'll preface by saying it was her bday party yest, so could have been too much stimulation, food, or maybe just teething or something else all together.
At 9:30, 2 hours after we put her to sleep she woke up crying- but sounded like she was in pain, so I went in to her. So I tried soothing her by patting her back, and finally took her out of the crib to rock her. We gave her tylenol thinking that if it was teething that would make her feel better. She fell asleep while I was rocking but woke up the second i put her in the crib. I patted her back again, but her crying still sounded like she was in pain so i took her out again, and rocked because I figured she just needed some extra TLC. Again put her back into crib and started crying maybe 5 mins later. Let her cry for 10-15 mins but was getting hysterical so took her out again. Fell asleep while I was rocking her again and brought her into my room, thinking that I would be more comfy if she was only going to sleep on me. Well she woke up once she got in our room thikning it was playtime. Not sure what to do, we layed around with her a little and she seemed fine, so brought her back into her room figuring she got it all out of her system. She cried more once we put her down. I could tell these weren't pain cries anymore, just that she wanted mommy and daddy so we let her cry a bit but didnt seem like she was going to stop. Finally, at like 11:45 DH suggested we just drive around with her. She calmed down and finally fell asleep after about 15 mins. But when we took her out of the car, she woke up again! Dh put her in the crib and just patted her back and she finally fell asleep.
It was such an exhausting night. I felt so sad for DD. I am slightly annoyed at myself for taking her out of her crib so many times bc its not something I would normally do, but I truly didnt know what else to do!! I typically dont have a problem with letting her CIO, but since she orig sounded like she was in pain, i felt like i had to go into her. After that, I didnt know what else to do! ugh. What would everyone else have done?
Re: Rough night... WWYD?
Gas pains. DD seems to have this problem after parties, too. My SIL has told me before that both of her DCs did, too. So, to ward this problem off ahead of time, I started giving her Mylicon before bed. It seems to help.
I had totally forgotten about gas pains and mylicon before the holiday parties started. Thankfully, after telling my SIL about our awful night, she reminded me of it!
I would have given teething tablets, tylenol, fed him, changed him and put him back in the bed to CIO. If that didn't work and nothing would calm him down, I'd give him a bath and start his bedtime routine again.
