I love Max too and agree that it's a hard name to fit with things! I think everyone already listed just about all the long versions of the name. I preferred the name as just 'Max' but found that it was super hard to put middle names with that with our last name. Won't matter though I suppose because DH doesn't like the name.
I'm a little late chiming in on this, but I wanted to let you know that my brother goes by Max and we also have a one syllable last name. It has never seemed weird to people that I know of. But his full name is Maxwell.
