Do you use a "messy mat" under their highchair?

I was given a few of these... and my kids certainly do make a mess when they eat, but it almost seems like more work to have something on the floor that I have to clean, rather than just cleaning the floor (which is tile) Does anybody find them useful?

Re: Do you use a "messy mat" under their highchair?

  • no, but i should. we have carpet EVERYWHERE in the house because of the dog who slips easily on the wooden floor and his hips are bad and its hard for him to get up...hense the carpet...and ds sends food flying EVERYWHERE... we will need a new carpet once the dog and my ds are thru with it!

  • I would if it was carpeted where we ate, but we eat in the kitchen with a linoleum floor, so that wouldn't make much sense.

  • I could maybe see using one if the high chair sat on carpet, but if it's on tile I wouldn't bother.  I agree - it just sounds like more work than cleaning the floor.

P.S. I LOVE the little bandit shirts in your siggy pic!  Where did you get them?

  • No, we have Pergo laminate floors that clean easily.  Also, my dog has mess patrol and get anything that drops on the floor.  BTW, you little ones are adorable!  I don't know that I have seen them before.
  • No, we have all hardwood and tile flooring, so a mat under the high chair seems redundant. Besides, our dog does a pretty good job of taking care of most of the mess dd leaves on the floor anyhow. ;-)
  • No, we have tile, but we also have a big dog...he cleans better than I could!  Sometimes the food doesn't even make it to the floor.
  • Laroo- thanks!

and aimee- the outfits are Carter's, they were a gift so I'm not sure what store they came from..

thanks all.. that's what I was thinking, whats the point if they are in the kitchen on tile, right?

  • no I have a large dog, nary a cheerio gets left on the floor at our house.
