Is anyone doing this? ANy thoughts on it?

    I think it's a great idea, however we will not be doing this due to financial reasons. I may donate, but the fees are too steep to bank it.

    My SIL did that for both of her sons. One based in NJ. I can let you know which one if you'd like.

    I kind of delegated this to my DH. 

    We decided we would either donate or bank, but we haven't made a decision as to which we are going with.  It is pretty expensive, but can be viewed as "insurance".

    There are a couple of places I found that do it.  Viacord is one, and it was about $2200 for the first year (collection, transport and storage).  Then it was $125 a year after that to store the blood.

    We didn't with DD because we hoped there would be a second baby before we needed it. Now that we're PG with # 2, we need to make a decision. I'm going to talk to our ped about it. I'm not sure we'll do it.

    We decided to donate our to research at our hospital.  You dont' pay anything to do this and the thought that our baby could help someone else is really great.
