NBR - So annoyed!!

This past weekend we were moving to a new house (still renting).  It's in our contract to get the carpets cleaned at our old place before the end of our lease (tomorrow).

Our new landlord has his own carpet cleaning business and has been giving us the run around all week.  First he would be there on Tuesday, but his truck was in the shop, then yesterday...and then today.  We told him we needed it done today so we'd have tomorrow to finish up in there.  Well, now he's ignoring MH phone calls!!!

How can we find a carpet cleaner who can come do it tomorrow?!!?!

Re: NBR - So annoyed!!

  • Just call around and tell them you need it done tomorrow. I am sure someone can do it tomorrow. And then send the bill to the landlord.

  • In our old flat, our lease said that we had to have the carpets cleaned, but it did not say "by a professional service" or words to that effect.  So we rented a steam cleaner and bought some cleaning solution from petsmart for $40.   Never heard a word from the LL.

Otherwise, just look in the yellow pages and start making calls.  I've had a carpet cleaning services come out, same day, once before.

  • Can you rent a carpet cleaner at a grocery store and maybe do it yourself. If you can't rent one, maybe consieder buying one, I know they have them like at Target, if you can't find any other company this might be the way to go.
  • Chances are you'll find someone who will be happy to do it for you, but if not could you just rent a machine and do it yourself?

  • Stanley Steamers or whatever its called? Normally some of the local companies can make arrangements to come out pretty quickly.
  • If worse comes comes to worst, you can rent one of those rug doctors from the grocery store and do it yourselves.  If you have time of course, I guess it depends on how much of your security deposit they will dock.  Those machines actually don't do a bad job, I've used them a few times instead of hiring out.

  • I would love to do it ourselves but it's in the contract that it has to be professionally done :(
