2nd Trimester

I love my DH...

Last night he came home and told me a story about one of the team leads at his work that he just wanted to slap up side the head.  Apparently one of his co-workers who works for that team leader is pregnant as well, and she's been having som complications that have had her out for the last 5-6 days from work.  She checks in everyday and such, and my DH happened to walk by yesterday when he was on the phone with her and heard this...

"well since you've been out of work for 6 days we'll need a doctors note from you when you return...(long pause)...yeah well I do understand, but it IS company policy and i have to follow company policy"

My Dh went on to say, that is precisely why he is glad he doesn't work for that team lead, because when DH was out for almost 2 weeks a couple years ago with mono his supervisor didn't follow "company policy" and felt that other team lead was being a total a$$ to the pregnant co-worker...Dh is sensitive to the plight of difficult pregnancies!

  • I am a rules freak, so I guess I don't understand what is wrong with requiring a doctor's note.  It shouldn't be difficult to get, given her circumstances.  But policy is policy, and why not enforce it across the board?  Doesn't seem like such a big deal to me to require that.  That's pretty standard procedure for a lot of employers.
  • I'm glad your dh is awesome about that!! I work for a jerk like the other team lead. Mine asked for dr.'s note after our big ultrasound. Thanks for killing our excitement. I was pissed. Then it took me 4 days to get it done and faxed to me and he wrote me up cause I didn't have it to him the next day. Are you freaking kiddin me!?!?!

I'm not even a rules freak, but I don't see what the huge issue is. I got a note from my OB to get out of jury duty without even going in - I just called and they asked if they should call or fax the court clerk.

  • Your DH is proof that sensitive men do still exist in this world!
