deseparate for help

i wrote a  few days ago. my 8 month old daughter has been bf since birth. please help me..my husband wants to give her formula..i want to try hard to bring my supply back...now i feel like my supply might have dropped. I am getting my period a 2nd time since i had her.

here are some questions...

1. does my supply drop since i currently have my period? i am on day 4.

2. Explain power pumping...is this the best way to get my supply quickly?

3. is it better to nurse often and have her nurse ok? or nurse less often and really be hungry and nurse efficently?

4. if she nurses 4 times a day is that enough?

Re: deseparate for help

  • 1-I found I had a drop during my period and it would slowly rebound after I stopped bleeding.

2-Power pumping.  I don't know personally but I'm sure there's been a link in the last few days or so here. Hopefully someone else will pop in.

3-Nurse often is the best way to get your supply back up.  The more the baby demands milk, the more your body will make.  Offer her your breast even if it's just to calm her down, comfort nursing it's called.

4-Is that enough for what?  If she nurses 4 times a day then you will have enough milk for her to eat 4 times a day.  Any more or less and you will have milk for her.

    Ditto this-

also a good way to boost supply is to have some skin-to-skin time w/ your baby- which you can do if you just have her nurse in diaper.

  • 1. totally common according to my friends

    2. ???

    3. nurse often!

    4. I think she should be nursing more than that but I don't know how old she is and that makes a big difference.

  • I don't have any additional advice, I just wanted to say GL ... I know it's frustrating when you don't have the support of the people around you.
