So... my pediatrician...

I really like him BUT...  I am worried that he prescribes medication way too quickly and hapharzardly. 

My old pedi in Houston believed strongly that kids needed to kind of work things through their systems... that said, when they were really sick...  he was very attenttive.  

We have lived here six month's... and granted he has been at daycare in a toddler room...  but in six moth's... he has been on three z-packs, one amoxycylin and now an augmentin. 

He has had a fever for six days now...  and I took him in last friday and we put him on the z-pack in case it was bacterial.  It did nothing.  Today I called again because as I mentioned... we are on day 6 of a fever (102.5) and although I was worried he might ask to bring him in for a blood test...I knew that was probably what we needed to do.  

I called and they called in a prescription saying that it had most likely gone to bacterial.  

I don't know why this is sitting wrong with me.  I like him.  I really do.  I have been thinking of changing to Dr. Macghee but he isn't as close as this pedi.  

What would you do?  

am I just overreacting?

I would make an appt with the new pedi, just to compare at least.  Dr. Wheeler also tries to avoid meds as much as possible unless they are REALLY necessary.  GL

Aubrey goes to Dr McGehee & we absolutely adore him! I will be sad when we move to Denver in July.

I should add that we did have 1 issue with the NP but that has since been resolved. I was told by Dr McGehee that if we ever see the NP & don't agree with her we should definitely ask for him to come into the room. We have seen her since & she was great.

I adore Dr. McGehee.  I would absolutely recommend him.
