back from buying a $2400 helmet (PIP)

Poor kid, I think he was in shock, we choose Marvin the Martian as the decals since Gaven always wears green. He Marvin was the only green thing they had. 4-5 months 23 hrs a day. Its harder on me than him. :(?

PS, sorry, this is a pic w the sock they use to take measurements w the laser machine thingy?

  • It will definately be harder on you.  They look really cute in them.  If you look on my blog you can see Marina in her pink helmet last summer.  ourmiraclebabies.blogspot.com
  • Why on earth did it cost $2400? Ours only cost the insurance company $350!!!!!! We paid a $30 copay. Wow, what is it made out of? I've never seen one like that with a tie underneath the chin.

  • I see one pick of Gaven wearing a white hoodie that ties under the chin...is that the helmet? I always assumed it was plastic :)

Um...too frickin cute by the way!?

Oh no, thats only the sock to take the measurements w the laser. We had to pay upfront then they send it to the insurance comp. Since its tech cosmetic alot of insurance deny the claim. Since we have crappy insurance I'm sure they will deny it until I fight it. After Ded I'll probably pay around $1200.00. Either way, my dad side of the fam most have no hair so I want to make sure he has a nice shape head to show off LOL!?

  • Ugh, not looking forward to getting our helmet either :( We go on March 9th for our first appointment.
  • he looks so freakin' cute!
  • Harlan wore one from 7-11m, & a second one from 13-16m. ?I hated not being able to snuffle his fuzzy little head, but we're SO glad that we did it. ?At his young age, the 4-5m will pass quickly!
  • Also, our insurance paid for the 1st one, but we were on a different plan for the 2nd one & they denied it! ?I think it costed us around $1400, plus the cost of the Dr. appointments. ?We appealed it several times & were repeatedly denied, even w/the Dr. supplying articles linking uncorrected plagiocephaly & brachycephaly (ds had brachy) to all sorts of future problems...greedy insurance ba$tards.
  • That's an adorable picture!  I'll say some prayers that the insurance company doesn't deny your claim!

  • OH, gotcha - I was hoping you'd say that. Our little sock thingies didn't tie - they just went on like little hats. I can't believe the thing is going to cost so much. Maybe it's because the hospital we got it from was the one doing a big study on them...maybe that's why it was so cheap?? I have no idea. I think I'd have died if they told me it was $2400!!! I'm guessing it's the same helmet too. If it is - the plastic band type - it seriously won't bother him. My girls loved theirs. I would watch it once he figures out how to get it off though. Mine liked to throw them and I got one in the face once - ouch!!!
  • Hey, I'm not a mom of a multiple but my dd has been in her helmet for about 3 weeks now.  She's done great and has adjusted amazingly.  We decorated it for her and she's as cute as ever.

It was definitely harder on us the first few days than it was on Reagan.  But I have confidence it will help and have no doubts we made the right decision.

    Good luck!!!

  • awww. Cutie! How long does he have to wear the helmet for?
  • They all adjust quickly and time will fly!!
