Hey ruby, great 1st birthday party for your DD!  I wanted to ask you what kind of foods did you have catered at your DD's party?  my family is used to East meets West when it comes to food at family gatherings.  Please give me some food ideas for DS's party.  BTW, I love the posterboard so I'm stealing the idea.

thanks!   do you mean what kind of korean foods specifically? because we did all korean food. if you're going to do both american & korean food -- i would probably pick 3-4 of the more popular korean dishes that non-koreans seem to favor.

i would say kalbi jjim, kampoongi, california rolls and/or kimbap, fried shrimp/sweet potatoes/squash or green beans, kimchee, crab and/or vegetable pancakes & jap chae are very popular. does this help? let me know if you need more food ideas.

Thanks for the Korean food ideas.  Although my family is not of Korean descent, your suggestions are great. Fried shrimp and jap chae...drooling. Who did you have cater the food at your DD's party?

we got it catered from Korean Korner in Wheaton, MD which is probably about an hour from where you are. I know they do offer delivery. We also got the rice cakes from there and they can also do rice if you need it.

Thanks for the info., ruby.  It sounds like Korean Korner offers catering packages.  Did you go with the package or did you order a la carte?  I wonder if they're willing to swap out a few items with the catering packages.
