Update to formula/milk issue

Thanks so much everyone who responded to my post last night. I was so worried about DD! Original post

Just wanted to update: Last night when DD woke up, she guzzled down 6oz of Pedialite. She woke up 20 mins later wanting a bottle and seemed hungry so we went ahead and gave her the old (Gentlease) formula. She was happy with that. For her AM bottle she also had the Gentlease formula and didn't have a BM until around lunch time and it was already back to normal.

So, wild guess here ;) We're obviously thinking it was the formula. I didn't call the pedi since she's totally back to normal today and we're seeing her on Thurs. for DD's 1 year visit. I will discuss it with the pedi then.

Right now we're not sure if it was the lactose (because last time we switched back to Similac regular she didn't have these issues, and before she was on Gentlease (switched at 11 months) she wasn't nearly this bad either.. So we're not sure if it was just something in the Next Step Formula itself, or if it is the lactose.. IRight now we're thinking in a week or so we'll try to slowly wean to milk. Obviously if she has the same reaction we'll discuss w/ the pedi what to do then (whether Lactaid or Soy or what).

Eclaire08, like you said, I've also had horrible stomach problems my whole life and unfortunately, it does seem like I passed it on to DD :(

  • Oh, I'm glad she's better! Lactose problems can start at any age too. Mine didn't start until I was 16. I also have the stomach problems along with it  like you said and hope my kids don't have the same.
  • Aww, I'm glad to hear that Kylie is feeling better.

I know it sucks passing your problems onto your child, but atleast we know how to help them.  I think having an understanding of what to do for them because you have to do the same for yourself helps, ya know?

ETA:  Please let me know what your pedi says.  I know they are all different, but I'm interested to know whether the advice is the same as what our pedi suggested.
