When does the waving arm thing stop?

Ds has pretty great arm control and has started picking things up, but he still has the wavy-gravy arms at night.  We swaddle him because of it and has started breaking out of swaddles- even the beloved miracle blanket.  He's on the verge of rolling and have a feeling that he's a side/tummy sleeper, so swaddling won't be forever.  I really thought the flailing arms would be over by his age.

Re: When does the waving arm thing stop?

  • We are just starting to keep one arm out and on Friday night we will do two arms out. I thought we would be swaddling forever too, but she finally can handle not having her arms tucked I think. We will see how it goes. Now, instead of her flailing... she itches her eyes and scratches her dry forehead. Hopefully that is going to stop soon too.

  • Same here.  DD is fine with arm control, until she gets tired.  Then they're all over the place, so we still swaddle loosely with a SwaddleMe.  Tight enough to keep her arms in, but loose enough that she can get her hands to her mouth if she wants to.

  • Once he's on his side or his tummy - he won't wave his arms around.  We're going through the same thing except haven't been able to swaddle DS for a long time now.

    We're exhausted.

    Wheee!
