Q for those on pregnancy #2 or more...

Are you feeling more "pulling" sensations in your lower abdomen this time around? I don't remember having that when I was pg with DD, but maybe I just forgot about it. It doesn't hurt or feel like cramping, but just pulling like all the muscles are stretching. Of course, I also had an appendectomy 4 weeks ago, so that's probably part of it too because my surgeon did a lot of exploring during surgery, but I would have thought those sensations would be mostly gone by now since the surgery was higher in my abdomen.

Just wondered what everyone else is experiencing this time. Thanks.

  • I don't have the "pulling" but I have the stabbing RLP that I didn't have last time.  It hurts!  It definitely is different this time.  Some days I think I feel movement already.  Crazy.

  • I have had more pain this time around for sure.  It blows.
  • Yes I have pulling and stretching feelings across low abs. I have had 2 previous c-sections so its much more tight. Sneezing is the worst or heavy vomiting and that feeling later, but in general if you just think about it logically it all makes sense and is much more bearable

  • i started having that ache in my lower abs around week 7...way earlier than the first time around....
  • I have more pain this time around...Sad
  • Yep. And it's really no picnic, because I had a c-section, so it's all pulling on my incision. :( When I spoke to the nurse at my 'first appointment' (which is funny because I've not STOPPED going there!) she said sometimes they can split back open with so close pregnancies. Freaked me the hell out! Luckily the pulling feeling is starting to subside, but good god. Don't say that to meeee. :(

Wow - the incisions splitting did NOT occur to me. I have three small incisions from my surgery, and the one in my belly button is about 1 1/2" long. It still has not healed well and actually split open a couple of times in the past two weeks - same with the lowest one, although that was much smaller. That one, though, split completely open (so much for dissolvable stitches) and I could actually see deep into the fat under my skin. Yuck. I'm just a little concerned that even those little incisions won't heal properly by the time my belly gets big. This pregnancy was planned but unexpected since I thought that having surgery and all would have stopped everything from occuring this cycle.

I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts on this one. Good luck to you. :)

  • yep very different from first preg. ?not so much anymore, but i had more dull cramping and pulling sensations.

  • Thank you for this post. I am on baby #3 and remember some dull pain with my first pregnancy, but not with my second son.  I am having some lower ab dull pains this time, but really no other symptoms, so I am very concerned.  I did have a miscarriage in between my two kids, so I am very paranoid and had some major cramping with that one.  This made me feel somewhat better, knowing that these feelings could be normal.
