Secondary IF

F/U to Dr. Appt.

I went to my OB/GYN today to discuss this fertility thing.  I am getting CD 3 bloodwork and an HSG.  If my remaining tube is not functioning, then we will have to go straight to IVF, but I don't even want to think about that right now.  What is being checked during the bloodwork and also what were your experiences with an HSG?  TIA!

  • CD3 checks your estrogen, progesterone, and some others. I had an HSG, and am not a great one to talk to. I has some idscomfort and bleeding, but it was my first cycle on BCP in 5 years, and had just had 2 injectable cycles, so I was a little out of whack. The procedure itself was not bad at all. I was just crampy and bloated for like 4 days .with period like bleeding.

The nurse assured me that it was not common!

That will help you with your 3day levels!

    Good luck!!

  • Day 3 blood work checks your Estrogen level.  That helps the doctor know if your levels are good to be able to create and release a follicle.  I sure do hope your HSG works well... keep us updated.

  • I've had 2 HSG's done.  They really weren't too bad for me.  A little crampy during the procedure and that was really it.  No bleeding or anything afterward.  Good luck!
  • I didn't think the HSG was too bad either- pinchy and crampy, but dealable. Take some advil (more than a regular does, like 3 or 4) a half hour/45 min before you go in- that should help somewhat. GL!
