My mom watches my son and he is perfect for her all day. He is fine for me and my husband too - but whenever my aunts or cousin comes over - he screams (like the old days when he was colicy). I have no idea why? Anyone else deal with this? I thought he would grow out of it by now?!
Re: Anyone's baby cry EVERY time a certain family member is around?
Does he cry when being HELD by them... or even if they are in the room?
Several thoughts... it could be the way they smell (perfumes, scented soaps, etc.), it could be their voices (do they shout or have unsettling/aggresive tones?).
If he cries when being held by them, then it could be that they just don't have "the touch". Babies can be particular about who holds them. Some people are very STIFF when they hold a baby and that makes the baby upset.
This happened to a friend of mine with her uncle. They figured out it was b/c the baby was irritated by his cologne. It wasn't anything strong, but the mild scent of it really irritated her little sinuses and when he stopped wearing it she was fine.
It could be that the baby is allergic to something in their clothes... maybe pet dander, or a certain scent. (detergent, or a scent from their house)
My DS cries every time my MIL holds him. I think it's a combo of the way she holds him, how loudly she talks to him, and her long nails (i.e., claws).
I do feel bad, but it is kind of funny.
