Just scheduled our EI consultation!

I am excited to get things going with them. ?I am tired of not knowing if he is on track with his language. ?I don't feel like my concerns have been validated by anyone up until this point, pedi and husband included. ?However, my mothers instincts have had me concerned for over 6 months and in that 6 months I have seen little progress at all and possibly some regression. ?If he doesn't qualify then at least I know that a professional has accessed the situation. ?If he does qualify I will gladly take any assistance they can offer in getting my boy talking. ?

Being a parent is making me age quickly....?

  • I'm glad you're following your mommy instinct!  And you're right, even if he doesn't qualify, at least you will have some peace of mind.  They will also give you lots of suggstions for things you can do with him even if he doesn't qualify. I did EI evals for a long time and I can tell you that I would rather evaluate a child and be able to tell that parent that they are doing fine than have parents who "wait it out" and their child falls further and further behind.  I hope it all goes well for you and I really hope you can get your DH on board with you!
  • I should add that my husband is supportive of me calling and will admit that it is taking Liam a while to get talking but he thinks it is because he is so physical, musical logical that he is spending his energy working out all of these skills. ?He also was a late talker and went from not talking to talking in complete sentences overnight. ?He assumes Liam will do the same. ?Son ?though he doesn't feel it is necessary he wants me to do what I think is best.
