New 12m olds - if you FF are you using ...

the next step formulas with whole milk ?  Reason why my kid has no problems eating and no problems drinking whole milk or water.  But my concern is if hes still getting the proper nutrients that formula provided on just what hes eating and drinking  alone?  Did you just give up the formula completely and just go straight to whole milk or continue supplementing?  TIA

  • I'm just doing whole milk.  There really is no point in doing the next stage formulas unless your child is not a good eater/not gaining weight.  I would ask your ped but I really don't think its necessary.

  • yeah the weight gaining is so not an issue hes almost pushing 29 lbs as it is.  Eating is so not a problem either.  I guess i will just stop with the formula and just give straight milk.  thank you.
  • The doctor had no concern about going straight to milk.  And Madeleine is not the greatest eater.
  • We are going straight to whole milk.
  • We just use whole milk. We tried the Next Step formula and it gave DS diareah, so we stopped.
  • I tried to do whole milk cold turkey and it didn't go well, so now I use the Next Step formula (just because it's a few dollars cheaper) and mix milk into it.  I'll slowly start adding more milk until the formula is gone.

    Ditto

  • We are using NextStep b/c there are substantially more vitamins and nutrients in it and my DC has been a bit underweight.  He is also a little picky on his table foods so for now I feel better using it Smile

  • I use an organic stage 2 formula once a day. I offer whole milk the rest of the day. I think (purely my opinion base on what I've read) that toddlers don't get enough nutrition and fatty acids in their day-to-day diet. My son eats well, but I realize half of what he attempts to eat ends up in his hair, bib, or floor. So I just feel that he's missing out on some vitamins. I will probably offer this at least once a day, like a supplement, until he can eat more productively. Most doctors will say whole milk is just fine. You just have to do what feels right for you and your child. GL
