My husband and I want to co-sleep when our baby is first born, but we're on a limited budget, so a bassinet/co-sleeper are out. We were thinking that this travel bed might be a good alternative. Our bed is big enough that we could put it between us. Neither of us move in our sleep.
Any reason why this wouldn't work/have a disadvantage to bassinets and co-sleepers? I can't think of any, but maybe I haven't thought of everything.
Thank you in advance for your comments! Have a good day.
Re: Is this feasible for co-sleeping?
I can't think of any reason based on the baby's safety. We are co-sleeping and just have dd in the middle of the bed on the mattress, and personally I would find the high walls of the travel bed annoying 1) when I need to get her for nursing and 2) just because I like to be able to see her easily when she makes strange noises or I just want to soak in her baby face.
We also have a bassinet for napping, etc. that we were able to get used for around $30, so if you're open to used items I think you could at least find a bassinet in your price range.
I have this one.

It's a little bit more but would probably work better. The sides are lower so you can reach your arm in there better and you can actually see the baby. There's a night light so you don't have to turn on an overhead light. It has a flap that folds under your mattress so it stays in place. The sides all the way around are mesh so if your baby gets up against it they won't suffocate. The travel bed you linked to looks like it's all plastic and I'd be afraid baby would get up to the sides and it may be a sids risk. The sides on this one are reinforced so you won't roll over on it. I also like this one because it has the foot rest so they can't scoot out (the snugglenest version is open at the bottom) This has been a lifesaver for us because I would bring them to bed when they were fussing but freak out that something would happen to them there.
Is there any way you can see the travel bed in store? I suggest checking out a couple and see what looks best.
