NBR: Would you move?

We live in a new development in a town in NH.  We border a main road.  We have lived there for 14 months and about 6 months ago, our house along with others got broken in to by a couple of teenagers.  They were caught and now are awaiting their trial.  My neighbor just forwarded me an article in the newspaper that vandals (teenagers) were going around shooting people's windows of their cars and houses with a BB gun on Saturday night.  One of the neighborhoods was mine.  My house was not hit, but it really stresses  me out.  I thought we were moving to a safe area.  I don't feel safe at all.  Would you move?

I won't lie to you but if this happened to me I think I would move.  Sounds like your neighborhood is going down the tubes.

If you can actually sell your home, then yes I would suggest moving.

Considering the housing market and the severe decline. No I wouldn't move. Your house could sit on the market for 6mo to 1year and sell for barely what you bought it for, then on top of that you neighborhood is in the news for vandals, which makes it an even worse sell. It would probably be easier to start a neighborhood watch program and get the community involved.
