Doctor or not?

DD has been congested for 2 weeks now. She doesn't act sick - no fever, eating and sleeping just fine, etc. However, her nose is so stuffy. I'm not sure what the doctor would do for her...but I am concerned that she's been congested for so long. What do you think - go to doctor or not?

Re: Doctor or not?

  • My DD was doing the same thing for a couple weeks. I thought it wasn't a big deal but I finally ended up taking her and she had a double ear infection that was caused by all the congestion sitting in her head. Now she's had the ear infection for two weeks and has been on two different antibiotics so I'm kicking myself for not nipping it in the bud sooner.

  • I usually don't go unless there is something else going on with the congestion.  If she acts sick, etc.
  • She could also have a sinus infection. That was the diagnosis for my ds once when he was super stuffy and just wasn't getting better. I would think she would have a fever if that were the case, but maybe worth a visit?

  • If you think the congestion has moved to her chest or her ears then definitely take her in. ?If there are no other signs then I probably wouldn't go in. ?Just keep giving her saline drops and turn on a humidifier. ?My pedi says that most colds take about 2 weeks before you see an improvement. ?
