Aloe's OK, right?

Ooooooouuuuuuccccchhhhh!!!

We have been in Miami for the weekend and I was a total irresponsible idiot yesterday and fell asleep on beach without enough sunblock. I have a darkish skin tone and have hardly ever burned, but now I look like a lobster (well, from the front -- from the back I'm fine) and it hurts to move. I can't find my doc's after-hours number and all I'm getting from Dr. Google is "skin is more prone to burning during pregnancy." Yeah. Got that.

So I know I can pop a Tylenol. And I can slather on the aloe vera too, right??? There's nothing that's supposed to be wrong with that, is it?? Anything else recommended? (Besides staying hydrated and making sure my temp isn't high?) We're about to start a 12-hour drive home and I need some relief asap!!TIA!

Re: Aloe's OK, right?

  • I don't think aloe would be bad.

If you're worried, you can also pour some cream onto a washcloth and lay it on your skin. I sounds a little gross, but it stops the burn and will give you some temporary relief until you can get ahold of your doc.

  • ive never heard of aloe being bad for you during pregnancy. just dont eat it! lol GL with the sunburn those suck!

  • I did thsi while in the Philippines a few weeks ago, exactly. Fell aleep & looked liek a lobster, it is very painful! You sound like your on the right track. I took Tylenol drank tons of water & had my husband slather me in Aloe every few hrs. When I got back & my DR saw my interesting tan (I had a tankini on) he just laughed at me, I told him I had been worried it would hurt the baby/pregnancy and he said no not at all. You just want to keep your body temp down so take the Tylenol for the next day pr two & drink tons, even soem gatorade wouldn't be a bad idea! Feel better soon

  • Going to the beach and laying in the sun is worse for you than aloe. Use the aloe.

It also makes me giggle that you don't have issues with sunblock or Tylenol, but need to ask about aloe.
