Traveling with pre-made food?

I have always made DDs own food, as we are super strict with organic and healthy food.  DH and I will be going on vacation and leaving DD with her grandparents.  Should I ask them to get special food for her, or should I prepare it in advance, freeze it, and take it to their house for her?  I should add that they live over 3 hours away, so keeping it frozen may pose to be a bit of a challenge.  If any of you have done this, do you have any advice on how to package it into serving sizes for travel? It was so much easier when it was purees!

  • I would give them a list and have them buy stuff.

Do you think they'll really stick to it? ?Grandparents love to give "treats"...?

  • I doubt they will stick to it unless they eat that way.  One of the reasons why kids learn to love to go to Grandmas....the treats!  Good luck with it.
  • If you package it with good freezer packs in a cooler it will stay frozen. I know this because my inlaws live three hours away too, and MIL always tried to send home things with us. Before we had Adam, we had the space, so DH always took it!

But you could package everything in containers and leave a list. They'll probably give it to her because they won't want to waste good food, but expect that there will be treats in there too.
