How many people are invited and what is the cost per person??.. If its 5 of you throwing it.. and it HAS to be at a restaurant.. then whatever the cost.. I would pay 1/5 of the cost.
I would say $20-30 but at a restaurant is tricky. Are you asking everyone to dontate $10 and the have a buffet or a set meal or is it separate checks? And you shouldn't have the mom pay... Good thing is that they'll already have the table cloths, napkins silverware, etc
I would spend $75-$150 ...I certinaly wouldn't agree to any over the top decorations or favors because I am not made of money but I would contribute to give my best friend a nice shower...
Depends on how close of a friend. Not that close -- $30. Close or family -- $60-100, depending on how our finances were and how reserved I was on the gift.
I threw a shower for a friend last year and probably spent between 100-150 on invites and food and decor and an additional 70 or so on a gift. She wasn't a best friend or anything like that at the time but our DH's were good friends. Does it need to be at a restaurant? I'd expect to pitch in 100-200.
Re: Baby shower costs...
I dont know those details. I am curious as to how much someone would be willing to be pay for a shower for a very close friend.
I know that there is a minimum at the restaurant that has to be met.
I've spent $200 before and then $50 before so I am curious as to what other's think is OK to pay.
Ah - I didn't get that from your original post.
I'd say $100, although it would vary by situation.

wow you are all so generous... and make me feel better!
I was afraid someone asking $120 was wayyy too much and obsurd.
