So I switched to Target's "generic" formula about a month ago when we had to switch DD to GentleEase (was using the huge boxes of Similac from Costco before). Well, I just a few days ago switched her to NextStep since she isn't eating too well or liking milk yet...
About 1/2 through the can tonight, I uncovered a nasty THICK 1/2 inch hair in the powder!!!!!!!! So SICK!!! I am seriously pissed right now!!!!!!! I know it's not mine.. It came up when I moved the powder over and I have no hair on my body that looks like that! DH neither.. In their Gentle Ease type formula, in a couple cases, I had found little black spots, but I never really thought anything of it.. now I feel like their formula is not clean at all and I'm thoroughly disgusted and am ready to cold turkey switch DD over to milk!
Seriously I'm fuming! I don't know if I should just return the 1/2 used can tomorrow? Or if I should write them a letter? Or both.. ? It's just so unacceptable! And I'm getting so sick of Target, between this and buying things that end up broken in the box when I open it (DD's b-day present, a caraffe I just bought), and them charging more then sticker prices... I am so fed up w/ their sh!t!
Re: PISSED at Target formula! So unacceptable!
That is so nasty!!! I would probably just switch her to milk. Try warming up the milk a bit...that might help her with the transition.
I would try and take the formula back. I've had a hard time returning formula there though (but not just there...Walmart too) because of WIC abuse. (As they explained it to me, I guess some dishonest people get the formula for free and then try to return it for money.) In your circumstances though, I would hope they would take it back without a hassle!
That is awful!
Isn't there a phone number somewhere on the can? I'd call them.
I found metal specks and black specks in similac powdered, called them and they wanted the rest of the container for testing, sent me a pre-paid box to send it back to them. They also refunded me the money.
I would be pissed and disgusted about the hair.
However, I also had some black specks in our formula, and when I called I was told that it can happen during the drying process and they aren't harmful. I would just call and ask about the specks.
