High AFP and pre-e?

I was just curious if any of you have found a link between the two, either from personal experience or someone you know.  When I had my 2nd tri quad screening I had a high AFP and borderline but not abnormal HCG, went on to have the level II u/s and everything checked out fine with the baby. I am just a little worried b/c I've heard sometimes the two are connected and I did have pre-e last pregancy and went on to have a failed induction and c-section but continued to have high blood pressure for a couple months afterward.  I am just a little nervous it's a sign of more bad things to come.  Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
