The call that just made my day...

Dh just called and told me he lost his job.  He doesn't seem worried because he is confident he will have another one in no time, but I am bout to just break down and cry.  What if he doesn't? We have f'n twins on the way! Oh, and we just signed the papers to by our house two nights ago. I sure as hell don't make the money for that! Sorry I guess this was more of a vent.

  • Oh wow. That is a bit nerve wrecking, now isn't it?  I'm sure your DH is trying to keep you calm so just go ahead and let him do that.  Work together to find a solution, but don't freak out.  I'm confident something good will come from it.  GL!

  • I'm sorry for the bad news. Try not to get overwhelmed by all of this (which I know is almost impossible.)  Just speak to DH and make sure he's on the ball about job searching like now and not tomorrowing, there is no time for waiting.  I'll keep you in my prayers and send good vibes your way.
  • My dh got laid off recently too! Everything will work out, don't worry! Good luck!
  • Oh yikes. I'm sorry hon. The good news on the house is that if he doesn't have another job before closing you can walk on your financing contingency, as it sounds like you won't qualify for a loan based on your salary alone. This is exactly why we build in these safeguards :) Hopefully he'll find one though, it would be a shame to have to walk away from a home you love.

  • Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this.... that must really suck! DH was told that he has a "chance" to get laid off and I don't know what we'll do if he loses his job.

I keep a list of bumpies that are in need of prayer. Would you like to be included?

  • I'm so sorry!  Couldn't happen at a worse time, huh?  I hope he finds a new job ASAP.  It's good that he's thinking so positive, it will keep him motivated :)

  • My DH got laid off for 6 weeks right before Christmas due to weather making it impossible for them to work. We were lucky that it was only a temporary layoff but the missed paychecks were noticed and we're still playing catch-up.

Have him file for unemployment ASAP, it took 2 weeks before we were approved and another week and a half to actually get a check in the mail.

    Best of luck to you.
  • Best of luck to you! I'm so sorry you're going through all this!
  • Oh man, that sucks. Really takes the fun out of having a new house! I hope he finds a new job soon!
