Travel system confusion... chicco vs. evenflo

I am looking at two travel systems

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3156651 the $300 Chicco

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3232437 and the $200 Evenflo...

And, duh, you can NOT put a price on your child's safety. They've both gotten great reviews and both have features that I like. I just can't help but feel like a bad mom if I get the more affordable one. Even though it's still a great stroller!

IDK...thoughts? I am insane, I know.

Re: Travel system confusion... chicco vs. evenflo

  • Doesn't make you a bad mom at all!!! That saves money for other things for the baby! And if the safety specs are good and it does what you need it to, save the $100!!!!!

  • Well.. if they both have great reviews... and price is not an obstacle... I personally think that the Evenflo is TOO cute!
  • as long as they are both safe, i would totally go with the more affordable one!
  • If both have received great reviews then go with the one that you like more.....I actually like the pattern on the Evenflo better than the Chicco!
  • I got the chicco but only because my parents bought it for us otherwise I would've gone with a cheaper one. It's just as safe and cute so go for the cheaper one!?
  • I am getting the Chicco Keyfit30. Consumer reports rated the Chicco carseat at the very top for safety, ease of use and fit to vehicle. On their website out of 11 car seats they rated...the evenflo embrace was rated 8th and the evenflo discovery was rated 10th.

  • Did you go to the store and play with both?  Since they are different manufacturers, they likely have different folding mechanisms, brakes, etc.  See if you prefer one or the other based on those features.

FWIW, we are planning to get the evenflow one show.

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
  • That's the same Evenflo that I've been looking at...DH picked it out and likes the pattern on it the best too.

I'm going with the least expensive of the safest products. More $$ does not always mean more safety. Walmart has a $50 Evenflo carseat that has very good reviews, so why not?

  • I did the same comparison, and we are going with the evenflo. I promise it doesn't make you a bad mom!! Big Smile

Yep, we've played with them. I like them both..

    ::sigh::

  • Thanks everyone! I feel alot better now..idk why I let these types of things freak me out so much.

  • I guess it depends on which reviews you are looking at. Consumer reports and Baby Bargains both list Chicco above Evenflo. I believe Chicco gets better safety ratings too. It's not as if Evenflo gets bad reviews by any means though so I don't think you would go wrong.
  • The chicco is a much better carseat than the evenflo one. Also I have known a few people who have been happy with their evenflo strollers but they are few and far between. FOr something in the middle of the evenflo and the chicco check out some of the mid grade graco travel systems. The carseat is better and the strollers hold up better. Just my 2 cents.

edit: also the enflo carseat is a rear adjust. Look for the front adjust infant seats, they have the strap on the bottom in the front. They are much easier to use and I see far less misuse with a front adjust seat. With a the front adjust you can easily lossen the straps to get baby in and out and then tighten them again to the correct tightness.

I will be using the Chicco system as well. I lucked out because my sister bought it for her daughter two years ago. She just had her 2nd baby, and had to get a double stroller.

So I got the stroller and I found the matching Chicco car seat on craigslist for $75 :D Only 6 months old, looks brand-new and never in an accident. I'm excited!

  • My sister has the evenflo and my friend has the Chicco. They are both nice but I like the carseat for chicco much better its easier to adjust and seems to be holding up better then the evenflo. I also think that the Chicco holds up alot better. The only thing with the chicco is it doesn't fit well in a cart so you would almost have to have a seperate cart for that carseat.

  • I got the evenflo one....have pic's of it on my space. www.myspace.com/nichol3l
  • oh yeah, plus I totally love the z handle on the carseat.
  • I am actually getting the evenflo you have listed.   I have heard good things about it.  I don't see a problem with cutting a $100 out when the cheaper product is still a good product.

  • We picked out the exact same travel system. You have excellent taste! I think we're going with the Evenflo, too!
  • I know the chicco has the better rating for the stroller and carseat (on consumer reports) but both car seats passed the safety rating. The rest is based on ease of use and how it fits in the car. As far as the stroller, I know the Chicco got rated "excellent" in safety but I can't remember what the Evenflo was rated. If it was safe as well, then once again, just up to ease of use, how it folds, how big it is, features for mom and baby.... If they're both the same quality in safety, go test drive them! See what's most comfortable for you and FI. Try wheeling it in and out of aisles, fold it down and pop it up, click in the carseat and take it out, put on the brakes and take them off, put a toddler in it and see how easy it is manuever it and how easy it is to use one hand instead of two (as a mom, you'll probably do that a lot and it can make a huge difference!!).
  • I wouldnt base it on price.

Have you personally tried out each stroller. walked with it, tried to fold it up, taken it apart etc. To me that is more important than a price difference.....

I also liked the way the Chicco looked better... on top of the fact that it was very user friendly. It was worth the extra money in my opinion.
