Living with ants or spraying my house for them? We've had ants here and there, but lately they're bad. No amount of kid-friendly ant traps or home remedies is helping. I don't even know what they're interested in b/c tonight I found like 6 of them by the rug by the front door. WTF? Not even near food (besides the fact that I've been extra vigilant about cleaning up and keeping food sealed). Usually I see them in the summer when we're in/out of the house, not in the middle of the winter!
I can't take it anymore. They gross me the eff out, I don't want them near my kids, I don't want them in our house ... but I don't want to spray chemicals either. I think I'm breaking down and will be calling an exterminator tomorrow.
Re: Which is worse?
I had good luck spraying the exterior perimeter foundation of the house with chemicals (one gallon 90 day bug killer from Home Depot), and then using ant traps where I found "lines" of the little bastards. It was the best I could do because I could not spray inside when Joe was alive. It did a pretty good job though with limited exposure.
I could not use an exterminator with Joe because they could not guarantee that he would not be harmed by the chemicals they used (they would only say they were safe for dogs and cats).
