the only reason i keep trying is because i like the "structure" of MF. i suppose the structure comes from the thickness. and the thickness is why it get soap buildup so easily...
I feel your dilemma. MF holds SO much, pee, and detergent, lol!
I've found a good balance with the occasional (or sort of frequent) bac out, vinegar in the rinse, and a little extra soap and 2 extra washes (the last I like the least). The bac out seems to help a lot.
I seem to have a little more stink issue with my BG inserts (we have 6 but only use them for night) than with our FBs (which are our daytime workhorse diapers).

I had such high hopes for bacout, but within two weeks of using it my pockets began repelling. ACK! Stink AND repelling dipes.
Did you use it every wash? Did you put it in the initial cold rinse (if that's how you wash)? How much did you use?
Just curious to know if it's similar to what I'm doing - I use 2-3 squirts in the cold initial rinse of every 2nd or 3rd wash. I'm crossing my fingers, but I'm please so far.
