BM Issue - Please help

Hi - I am hoping someone can help me or tell me I am not alone.

My DD is 13 months old.  80% of the time, she is constipated.  We have tried everything (and I do mean everything!)  The problem with this is that she makes herself vomit by either holding in or pushing in her BM.   It appears that she 'holds it in' b/c it must hurt to pass it.

I don't know what to do about this.  The pediatrician just keeps sending us away with different things to try but I am starting to wonder if something else is going on here. 

Any thoughts??

I haven't dealt with this issue but here is my honest advice: Get a new pediatrician.  You haven't mentioned how long this has been going on, but I assume it's been quite a while from the fact that you've tried 'everything'.  It seems very odd to me that your DD is vomiting from not going and your pedi doesn't seem very concerned.

I would ask around and find a pedi that is highly recommended in your area, and get an appointment with them ASAP.

What helped us was to stop any sort of cereal and increase dd's water.  We also feed her a lot of fruit so that helps.  After that, I have no idea.  It could be something diet related, like bread and cheese will stop anyone up.  GL!

I am a big fan of a little olive oil going a long way.  I just realized that this was an issue this weekend, DS has been very regular until this weekend he was having bowel movements with cries.  I just upped his veggie intake and put a little olive oil on said veggies, life has been good since.  Keep an eye on your DC's fluid intake too.  HTH
