2nd Trimester

Low kicks/pressure?

I have an anterior placenta so I just started feeling the baby this past weekend.  However, I'm feeling him a lot.  Sometimes it feels like a low kick in my cervix.  It does't hurt, almost tickles.  It's usually when the baby is active and I also feel movement other places.  I am SO paranoid because I am high risk for incompetent cervix and this kicking/pressure feeling on my cervix is freaking me out.

Re: Low kicks/pressure?

  • Hopefully Noah will change position soon and start kicking you somewhere else! Elliot was kicking me in the bladder/cervix/anus all last week and finally resumed the standard left abdominal kicks this week.

  • I have incompetent cervix. With my DD, my cerclage was placed at 22 weeks. I did not have any pressure or feel any movement around that time. The only symptom I had was minor spotting 2 and 3 weeks prior to being diagnosed which was thought to be my cervix effacing.

If you are worried its always best to call the doctor. Incompetent cervix is very scary and harder to intervene the further along you are.

I'm glad Elliot is being nicer to you this week!  I guess I must be feeling what you were last week.

  • These same things were happening to me, but now I"m feeling a lot of pressure on my "rear end" (for lack of a better term). It almost feels like I need to use teh ladies room, but no such luck. I'm hoping the baby moves out of that position soon b/c it's a little bit annoying (and distracting!)

I also have a high risk cervix, and will be asking my dr. at my appt tomorrow about when to worry as far as cervical kicks/pressure go.

  • Well I cannot relate to the anterior placenta or the high-risk cervical issues, but I can relate to the pressure. I haven't felt any kicks yet either, but I have been experiencing a lot of pressure very low on and off for about 2 weeks. When I feel it, it will last for a day or so, but for lack of a better description, it feels like the baby is going to fall out s/he is so low. Then when it goes away, I just assume that s/he has moved positions. I cannot wait to feel kicks so I know more about wth is going on in there!!
