I can't tell you how much it bothers me. Especially because he's not anymore bratty than any 2 year old. I just feel better knowing that I'm not the only mom who gets SUPER offended when they say that. I've told them again & again that I do not appreciate it. How do I get my point across without smacking them upside the head?

That is not appropriate. I find that a lot of people without kids in that age range just don't understand what "normal" toddler behavior is. They are little cave people and it is our job to civilize them. It would be weird if they came out acting like little miss manners threw up on them.
