whole milk and constipation

did any of your little ones have constipation issues when making the switch to whole milk?  for the past week, my DD has had trouble passing her stools.  she struggles and cries every time she has a bowel movement.  (i feel so bad for her!)  i've tried giving her more water in between meals and even some prunes.  nothing seems to really help.  not sure what else to do.

i plan to give her pedi a call today, but wanted to see what you other ladies have experienced.

TIA!

  • We've noticed the same thing, though not to the degree that you have.

  • Yes. I've really tried to up his fruit and veggie intake. And I've replaced one of his drinks a day with diluted fruit juice.
  • Fresh blueberries and kiwi have seemed to help.  Also. I've been giving DS these raviolis that, even though they have cheese in them, have a lot of spinach, so that seems to help too.

  • Yes!!!  You may want to cut back on things like yogurt, cheese or any other dairy products that you give.  DD gets constipated if she has too much...I haven't figured out the balance yet (if she has a big milk day, then she's constipated for a few days, because she also has a lot of other dairy to make up for the slow milk days).
