When to apply for daycare?

It's still pretty early for me, as I'm only about 8wks, but when did you start applying to daycare centers?

I started looking into it around 8wks. It is very hard to find an infant opening.

I didn't start looking until probably about 28-30 weeks.  I wanted to go with in-home daycare and a lot of the people I called even then told it was too early and to call them back in a few months.

I think we've just settled on a place, DH went to visit it today, so I haven't heard the final report.  But I found 3-4 places with infant openings.
