anyone have independent health care?

Say like they have on ehealthinsurance.com?

My DH does not have a healthcare option and I work for a private company.  I pay $150.00 per month for just me and will begin paying $500.00 for me and baby, once baby arrives.  I think that is insane and wondered if you al had any ideas for me.

TIA!!

Re: anyone have independent health care?

  • I pay my own since I have a small business. It is about 300 for me, no prescription coverage, high deductible. For me and a baby, with prescription coverage it will be 800-1000.

  • Do you have health care the state provides for children?  NY has one that is reasonably priced and based on your pay.
  • That is abotu right.  Having the baby really jacks up the price.  I myself am on COBRA.  When my severence period is up, I will be paying $400.  I will still have my $400 deductible, which is good.  But I shopped the same policy and I would be paying about $500 on ehealthinsurance for the same policy.

That i understand BUT this is not COBRA, COBRA is always more expensive.  This is the halthcare I am provided at my job.  If I had to go on COBRA I would be paying $1,200.00 or so a month.

  • We don't but our health insurance still sucks!!! I think no matter what it is just really expensive. My parents have insurance threw their business and my dad said last week it went up $500+ a month. I would check into what the PP said about state child health insurance though. When we were out of work we got my SS on health insurance threw the state and it had 0 co-pay. It all went of income. GL

The policy is for Aetna Choice Plus POS...its a COBRA benefit that will end in 3 months.  After the period is up, I can continue with the same carrier for $400.
