2nd Trimester

STFU, people! ::my vent::

I was browsing at the kids clothing/supply resale shop Saturday morning, and the clerk girl (about my age) asked me if I was shopping for a gift or if I needed help picking something out. I told her I was shopping for MYSELF and it'd be so much easier if I knew if it was a boy or girl, to which her response was this:

"AAAHHHH!!!! I hate when girls do this. You really should wait til you are further along to start shopping, hun. A lot of things can happen in the first trimester, and it'll be easier after you can physically find out if it's a boy or girl."

"Umm, yeah, except I start the THIRD TRIMESTER next week, thankyouverymuch." Then she made a big deal about how small I was, etc., etc.

Uh, not appropriate.

I almost cried. Sad

  • I am sorry that you had to deal with such a stupid b!tch; how did you not smack her face...hope that you have a better day today!!
  • I hate when salesclerks get all in my business. Just answer my question and leave me alone. When I was PG with DS I had to go to a wedding when I was 8 months. I went to an upscale department store and I asked while I was in the maternity section if they had any formal dresses and the salesclerk says very rudely "this is the maternity section!" No freaking kidding me!!!! I am 8 months lady and I need a dress to go to a wedding!!! - Stupid people.

  • Next time, just look her square in the eye and say, "Well, it could be worse, I could have looked like a whale when I was 16 weeks, like this girl Jamers615 I met on The Bump."  You can use my fatness as snark, I won't mind.  Jsut to shut up some stupid lil princess who think she knows everything.  Wink

    She's the owner/manager!!!

    I really was mad, esp. because I like going into that store and I don't want to have to boycott it because she was being stupid this weekend!

    Also, did I mention that she was plenty pudgy herself? Here's what I thought of after I left:

    "I know I'm plus-size to begin with, but I'm still skinnier at 26 weeks than you are today!"

  • That is unbelievably rude. I think I might have clocked her one. And I would have DEFINITELY complained to management.

    I would've said that to her. Pregnancy tends to make people think they can say whatever they want to you - no socially acceptable filter...so why not take advantage of it and do the same back.

  • People don't get it....at all.
  • What a skank! That's not the way to attract repeat customers.
