I was browsing at the kids clothing/supply resale shop Saturday morning, and the clerk girl (about my age) asked me if I was shopping for a gift or if I needed help picking something out. I told her I was shopping for MYSELF and it'd be so much easier if I knew if it was a boy or girl, to which her response was this:
"AAAHHHH!!!! I hate when girls do this. You really should wait til you are further along to start shopping, hun. A lot of things can happen in the first trimester, and it'll be easier after you can physically find out if it's a boy or girl."
"Umm, yeah, except I start the THIRD TRIMESTER next week, thankyouverymuch." Then she made a big deal about how small I was, etc., etc.
Uh, not appropriate.
I almost cried. ![]()

She's the owner/manager!!!
I really was mad, esp. because I like going into that store and I don't want to have to boycott it because she was being stupid this weekend!
Also, did I mention that she was plenty pudgy herself? Here's what I thought of after I left:
"I know I'm plus-size to begin with, but I'm still skinnier at 26 weeks than you are today!"
I would've said that to her. Pregnancy tends to make people think they can say whatever they want to you - no socially acceptable filter...so why not take advantage of it and do the same back.
