Sex Slaves in the Suburbs

Is making me so sad.  I just can't believe some of this stuff goes on.  It's awful.  It's on MSNBC now (eastern at least).  Is anyone else watching it?

It happens more often than you would think. Sex slavery has replaced drug traffiking as the biggest moneymaker for criminals. The United States is a hot spot for human traffiking. It is estimated that it generates 9.5 billion dollars a year.

Modern day slavery exists, and it hits close to home for me. A friend of mine, who is from the Chicago suburbs, was traffiked without her parents even knowing about it. Every day, her body was sold to men, and every day, she went home and was unable to say a word for the fear of being murdered.  Her parents thought that she had an after school job cleaning the neighbor's house.

600,000 - 800,000 men, women and children are traffiked across international boarders each year, with approximate 80% being women and children. Up to 50% are minors. 50,000 are traffiked into the United States. This is according to the US Department of State Trafficking in Persons.
