2nd Trimester

Registry - WWYD?

So, I originally started off thinking I could wait a little bit before I started a registry, but after hanging out around my fellow bumpies here I'm noticing people talking about registries far earlier than where I'm at!  Am I behind the game here?

Really, I think I'm asking because I am bored and debating on waking up hubby for a Babies R Us trip!   Hehehe.

Re: Registry - WWYD?

  • A lot of people don't do them until after the 20 week ultrasound. ?A lot of items are being discontinued right now, so I'd hold off a few weeks.

I almost posted the same thing earlier today, but never got around to it, so Im glad you did! A lot of my friends did it, or are doing it, around 20-25 weeks.

  • i don't think i registered till i was about 25wks along w/ DS.  i think you still have plenty of time.  it's not a bad idea to start asking friends/family about their registries b/c it's a bit overwhelming at first.

  • if you don't want to do your registry now, do all the research at least - it'll make a HUGE difference for when you're actually ready to register, you'll know what you want to see and play around with in the stores then. I started my registry at 17ish weeks online only, but we just went to BRU last weekend (24 weeks) and played around with everything and made adjustments from there.
  • i started mine early but only did it online & i only picked gender neutral things and diapers & bottles and things like that. then i added all the cute girly things & baby gear after my 20 week ultrasound.
  • I don't think you are behind the curve. ?DH and I just started our registery last night. ?Of course, I think I would have gone much sooner if I could have talked DH into it. ?What we did was got the book Baby Bargains about a month ago and started reading the reviews so when we registered last night we had a good idea of what we wanted instead of just scanning a bunch of random products. ?Our shower isn't until April 25th so that is why we were not in a big rush.

  • I just registered this weekend.  I waited until my Big U/S.

  • I started mine at 14 weeks because I'd hear great things about an item and didn't want to forget about it.  Go ahead and start it online!

  • I just started my registry. I would however, spend this time researching strollers, bassinets, cribs, etc

  • I waited until I knew the sex. If you arent going to find out you can go whenever. I liked to go early bc you will realize how often you go back and forth (in store and online) changing things..looking at reviews etc.
  • I started about a week ago, but just online. ?I got out the consumer reports to see what carseat/stroller it recommended and registered for that. ?Then I looked at bedding. ?That's really all I've done so far. ?My shower isn't until April 4th so I have time.

  • We did our Target registry yesterday (doing BRU Monday) and I know at least half of the cute non-necessities will have to be redone before our shower due to seasonal changes, etc. The only things that you can be pretty confident will still be around no matter when you register are bottles and diapers.?

Just wait until at least 20 or so weeks. Most people don't even check registries until the weekend before a shower, unless it's around Christmas or a birthday. ?

  • We don't have a registry yet and won't for at least a few more weeks.
