i want to give my mom, grandma and mil (even though she's crazy) all gifts after i open my shower presents infront of everyone. something special to celebrate their roles in my babies life. whats a good gift?
At my sisters shower we sent around two notebooks for the grandmothers. It was "Advice for Grandma" and had my sister give them to each at the shower. They loved it.
I've seen a lot of people do picture frames, scrapbooking pages (one page that's framed), and brag books.
whats a brag book?
It's basically a mini photo album that they can carry around with them. Though, thinking about it maybe a digital photo keychain would be even better. We bought one for my grandma and I update it for her like every three months with pics of all her kids and their kids. She loves showing it off to people.?
My cousin did that. She went and got a surprise 3D sonogram and copied the pictures into CUTE frames. Her thinking was that all 3 of the women have probably never seen that kind of sonogram and on top of that it is their next grandchild or great-grandchild....
I am making each MIL and mom a special blanket for them to use when baby comes over to visit. I still want to get them something else that is actually for them and not for baby, so I will prob get them something else, maybe a wallflower from B&Bworks.
lil outfits that brag on grandma......mil? great grand? I am going to get my mom her own stuff to keep (leather baby bag) Do they like perfume, or silky pj's?
Why don't you write a letter to baby explaining to them the contributions that each of these people has made on your upbringing/view of the world etc and your favourite things about each of them and then give them each a framed copy?

Wow- so thoughtful- that's a great idea! I was going to suggest having a photo-blanket made of their babies, (ie of DH as a baby for MIL) and something goofy about them having their own baby blankets..

i LOVE this idea for my mom and grandma- its perfect, i consider my grandma one of my bestfriends too! this wont work for dh's mother though- she's a real piece, so i'll have to do something different for her...
You know, you could have DH write the letter for MIL-LOL. Or you could turn hers into a tribute to the traits she raised him with that are going to make him a great dad...

you are right, i could... its just really hard for me to focus and try to find good things about her when she's so effing mean, crazy and selfish.
dear dh's mother,
thank you so much for being crazy around us so we know how not to behave with our children. because of your constant verbal abuse regarding dh's sisters weight, my hair color and a's 'harsh face' we will never talk down or assualt our children but instead up lift them to build confidence and self-worth. your grandbaby will be a better woman because of your negative and crazy outlook on life.
Aww. THat could work... I hope she doesn';t live close!!!
Dear ROo,
Grandma X is your daddy's mommy. She is a strong lady with strong views. Your Daddy is strong, too. His muscles are strong. Grandma also has a dog. SHe is also Aunt X's mommy, too. SHe has made us a great family because she had your Daddy. We love your dad. He's funny. I hope that even when you are in your rebellious preteen years that remember what a loving Dad you have,
Love, Mommy
Hows that?
