LOL!!! Myself and 3 other girls were basically forced into co-hosting a shower for a mutual friend. There was really NO way to back out of it (i.e. being assigned tasks and duties and such) without looking like a cheap b!tch. Which I try not to broadcast ordinarily. The person supposedly in charge muddled the whole thing and it went WAY over budget ($44 each now instead of the $20-25 we'd agreed upon -- the overages being the primary responsibility of 2 of the 4 forced co-hostesses who were given free rein).
One of the reasons I really resented having to do this is because I'm not that close to the mom-to-be and find her pretty me-centric and AWish. She talks about my DD as HER [insert DD's name] and yet she hasn't been to my house in about 2 years and hasn't seen DD since her brief office appearance at Halloween when she was about 4 mos. Yeah.
Well, what is so funny is that I just found out that another of the forced hostesses (not one of the ones who went over) feels the same way about the mom-to-be and was just as angry about the whole shower nonsense!!! The shower is all over, nothing to be done now (though wish I'd known earlier because she and I could've staged a major coup and taken this thing over neatly), but misery does love company so glad to know I'm not totally daft in my opinions of this mom-to-be and the god-awful shower experience.

Well, that's $44 multiplied by 5. So the shower was actually $225 plus some stuff that some of us just kicked in for free.
