Frustrating mother: Shower frustration

So my SIL's are giving me a shower next weekend, and they invited my mom and sisters.  My mom and sisters live 3 hours away.  My mom hates to drive so everyone was going to carpool with the oldest sister.  My sister was planning on leaving Friday after work, doing a sleepover at my house, go to the shower Saturday and go home after the shower.  Well my mom doesn't want to leave Friday because her prayer group is watching a video and she is one of the group's leaders.  My sister asked her if she could watch the video some other time.  My mom's response was that she didn't want to leave my dad home alone with the kids on Friday and that she would rather leave Saturday, drive 3 hours, attend the shower, and then drive 3 hours home.  I have plans Sunday morning so it really wouldn't work for them to stay Saturday night. 

I think I'll just stay out of this one.  I just think it would be fun to do a girl's night on Friday with my mom and my sisters.
