Just wanted to comment on your post below but it's far down now.. I think that it's interesting that my teacher is less "hippy" than the book for the method we are using. I think that is why classes are so valuable- the teachers bring some reality to it all.
There is a section about squatting in Hypno too and there is no way I am doing that, that seriously would wreck my knees!

Re: **Hi725**
That's pretty funny! I wonder why the books are so "Out there" but the classes themselves aren't so bad?
I laughed about the squatting with DH. I said "Sure, you get a med free/reduced pain brith and feel great, until you try to stand up and walk and can't because your thighs are so sore!" I'll give it a shot, but I would like to be able to actually walk around my house when I get home, rather than sit on the couch and pout because I'm crippled, lol
I think that's why people are so afraid of birthing "methods" cause there is way too much negative stigma out there about them.
A friend told me recently "I tried that breathing and focusing thing too and it didn't work." She was referring to the 1-hour birthing class she took at the hospital. Oh, I was so annoyed. And how does that compare to my 12.5-hour method that also requires hours and hours of practice? After that, I stopped talking to people about our plans. It's annoying!
I know! One of my friends asked if I was taking classes and when I told her about Bradley, seh said "Oh, I just meant the ones they offer at the hospital, why ar eyou wasting your time with the granola stuff??
Then I posted on one of the parenting boards, asking if anyone had done bradley and what their experience was. One of the responses was from someone who never took it, but said it was all too 'hippy-dipy, ass in the air' for her. then when I said I didn't want the epi because I wanted to walk around if I needed to, she said something like 'you'll be in LABOR, where exactly do you think you'll need to go'.
And of course, everyone I talk to says "Oh, you'll give in and get the epi once the contractions get bad". Maybe I will, maybe I won't, but thanks so much for the vote of confidence!
