I need appetizer help!

My neighbors and I are doing a progressive dinner for Valentine's Day.  Appy at one house, main course at another and desert at the last. The main course is crab cakes, the dessert is bananas foster and chocolate covered strawberries.  What should I make?? I'm not a bad cook at all (at least I don't think), but I have a horrible time coming up with meal ideas.

  • At the risk of sounding repetative- Pioneer Woman has a great olive spread that you put over french bread and bake- so good! I made it over the holidays and everyone thought I bought it somewhere! GL!

  • I made some bacon wrapped dates that were amazing.  I had never eaten a date before and its really a great combo of salty&sweet.

Get a bag of pitted dates.  Wrap in half a slice of bacon, secure with toothpick.  Bake at 400 for 20min or until crispy.

I saw a recipe that called for the dates to be stuffed with goats cheese and that sounds utterly amazing, too.

  • Thanks mags, Yum. Maybe I could do both, since they're pretty simple.
