I just got done talking to a co-worker of mine. He has a 2.10 year old girl. He said that she started to not sleep very well in her crib when she was about 2.4. Waking up at night, not wanting to go to bed in her crib, etc. etc. They decided to put up her Big Gril Bed and overnight she slept wonderfully (and has every since). He thought it was because once they reach a certain age and size that they feel they are "trapped" when they are in their crib (high sides, etc.). Once she was in a bed that had low sides and she could see over them, she felt more comfortable when and if she woke in the middle of the night and just went back to sleep.
It made sense to me so we will probably be turning Preston"s crib into his daybed earlier than I had planned.
Note: Preston sleeps on a regular twin bed with safety rails at my parents house (when he spends the night) and he does just fine.
I hope you have a good transition.
Re: **Melmax**
Thank you so much, this gives me hope. I'm normally an optimistic person, but I'm feeling very pessimistic about her switch to her bed (which will be happening in the next few days I hope). I guess i'm just scared that all the stuff she's pulling now, is still going to be happening even once she's in a bed. I hope our situation is the same as your co-workers
Best of luck to you with preston's switch, let me know how it goes. I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot from me on here with my posts (there is SO much going on- this bed stuff, middle of PT'g etc) b/c it's all so hard to cope with and overwhelming to me.
Thanks again
