So DH and I registered at BRU last night and the lady commented that I hadn't registered for a convertible car seat in addition to the travel system that I registered for. The convertible car seats look more like booster seats. I'm confused...do I really need to register for both? It just seems a little strange? I don't know, maybe I'm just naive about the whole car seat thing...it is my first kid.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
Re: Infant Car seat vs. Convertible Car Seat
The convertible car seats can be rear facing for infants and then you turn it forward facing after they reach a certain weight.. most i've seen are 40lbs for forward facing. I registerred for one so that we would have it when we need it if someone even got it for us. The only reason why I still want an infant car seat vs only having the convertible car seat is because the infant one you can carry in a store but the convertible one you can't.
We registered for the travel system and the convertible because we are hoping to get them both now so we don't need to buy the convertible later.
Our travel system has an infant car seat that goes up to 30 lbs. Our convertible car seat begins at 30 lbs. and can be used until 40 lbs. then converts to a booster seat that can be used until 100 lbs. It seemed worth the money since the infant car seats that convert only go up to about 40 or 60 lbs. depending on the brand.
