2nd Trimester

NT Scan results

Hi ladies,?

?This is my first post on the 2nd tri boards (yay) I will officially be moving up next week...

My question is how long did it take for those who elected to have the NT scan done to find out your results? The ultrasound tech said it would be a week (which I had mine done a week ago today) and then my doctor later informs us it could take up to 2 weeks. I was just curious how long everyone had to wait before knowing? I just want to know already.?

Re: NT Scan results

  • Mine took about two weeks, but I don't know if they would have called me if everything was normal.  I had low hCG levels and they wanted to repeat the test with the AFP+ test so they called me right away.

  • Mine took about 10 days but my doctor's office has it set up so I can check the results online.  Get used to the waiting for test results.  That one (NT Scan) is the hardest to wait for.  Remember not hearing is good.
  • The tech had them immediately. It's a measurement that is taken during the ultrasound. I saw the report that she filled out for the doctor and googled the measurement right away to get my result.

My guess is that it takes time for it to get to the office, for the doctor to bother looking at it and then forgets about it until some mother to be calls in a panic worrying OR the next appointment.

I had my ultrasound almost 4 weeks ago, my next visit is next week and I'm guessing that if there was bad news they would have called me by now.?

  • They reviewed the scan results with me immediately after the scan. It took a little over a week for the blood test results, they just told me over the phone.

  • Thanks ladies for your responses! My doctor's office said they will not contact me unless there was a problem which really bother's me. I want to know my levels regardless if it is "normal" or not. I've heard that other people found out their levels and they were "normal" it just must be my doctor's office policy. I called just to see if they happen to be in by now just for my peace of mind.
  • My NT Scan consisted of an U/S and blood work at the 1st appointment then I went back 3 weeks later for my 2nd blood draw.  The nurse called me about 3 or 4 days after the 1st blood work was done to let me know everything looked okay and then again about a week after the 2nd blood work to tell me everything looked great.  I didn't get the actual results (the odds) until a month and a half later.  I think they forgot about me so I had to hassle them at my 21 week U/S.

  • They told us a week, it took about 4 days.

  • Because I did the bloodwork beforehand (per the packet I got from my OB for the Ultrascreen) I got the results the day of the Nuchal Translucency ultrasound.

Hope you get your results soon!
