Somehow I forgot that they even do this. I'm sort of shocked at the things they expect from a 3 year old, but even more so that Alexander can actually do them. They follow the Exceed Preschool Curriculum.
In case some are curious, this is what is on the January Observation Checklist. (It's not designed to indicate learning problems or disabilities.) And it's either a "working on" or "yes" answer for each.
Language:
Can answer simple "how" questions
Can use the regular past tense form (ex. jumped, walked)
Can point to the letter "i"
Can point to the letter "j"
Cognitive (Math/Science):
Can tell which objects go together
Can match colors
Can point to the color blue
Can count to five
Fine Motor:
Can complete a 4-piece puzzle
Can weave through a sewing card
Can cut a straight line
Gross Motor:
Can kick a rolling ball
Can hit a rolling ball with a stick
Can swing on a swing when started in motion
Self-Help:
Can pull up pants when prompted
Can pour without spilling
Can dress and undress self 75% of time
Socialization:
Can work on own project approximately 30 minutes
Can play near and talk with other children when working
Of those the only "working on" he got was about cutting a straight line, and swinging himself. Quite frankly, I'm 29 years old and can't cut a straight line myself (I have scissors with a laser to guide me for wrapping paper...lol)
The comment he got was: Alexander has adjusted so well into our class -- keep up the great work!
So, I'm proud!
