at my growth u/s on Monday? They told me my 34w baby was already 8 lbs, 12oz.

To be honest, I laughed at the girl.

I expect a big baby (although DS came out at 7lbs2oz at 37w). I will not freak out about a 9.5 baby at 37, 38, 39w.

But to be nearly 9 lbs NOW? With 3-5 weeks to go still?

All the baby weight guestimates this morning made me confess my own.

while that number is fairly terrifying, remember how INaccurate those are. Ive had three friends get induced because their babies were "too big" (meaning over 8 1/2 or 9 lbs) and then their babies were born under 7 lbs.

I guess a baby that big at that point is possible...but that just seems "off" to me. ?I would take to your OB about it b/c that is weird.

Don't worry--those estimates are always off. And at least you won't have to run out and buy premie clothes!

so did they say you were measuring big due to big baby or excess fluid? It doesn't seem like it could be both....you aren't THAT big.

for sure he has a big head and belly ... DS came out with a big head and belly.

but seriously. they need to get their chicken-with-a-head-cut-off crazies in a row. I'm about ready to just give up.

My doc won't do growth estimates and won't even bother with a growth u/s bc he says they avg to be off between 10-15% which is too much. While part of me wishes I had an IDEA....seeing posts like these makes me kind of glad it's a big surprise so far.

Now, doc did say if I start growing fairly rapidly in the next few weeks, we may do an u/s but other than that, no estimates for me.
