Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Milk Drying Up?

HB is going on 5 months the 26th of Feb. She's been an EBF baby thus far. I started back to work when she was 2 months old. Pumping at work and nursing in the morning, evenings, and thru the nights.

Recently I've noticed my milk supply seems to be decreasing. Is this possible? If so, is there anything out there I can take to increase my supply back to normal.

Decreasing, meaning I was able to pump up to two full bottles (18oz) in an 8 hour period- now I can barely get 11 oz. I thought I would try to nurse and then pump directly after to see if this would help.

Any suggestions?

Re: Milk Drying Up?

  • Have you had AF come back yet?  I take calcium and magnesium supplements to help when I ovulate and have my AF.

Dark beer like a Porter or Stout helps.  Also, Mother's Milk Tea.  GL!

  • I would try to pump more often. Could you add a puping session during the day? I would add this session at the same time every day and eventually you should start to produce more.  Also nurse as much as possible since a nursing baby is better at keeping supply than pumping.

  • You could try fenugreek as well as MM tea.  Also maybe a power pumping session or 2?  Nursing as often as possible is the best solution, and you could always pump for a few minutes after nursing as well.

    Good luck

  • Yes it's during that time that I've noticed the most decrease but normally will go back up to normal. So calcium and magnesium on top of my prenatals should help? (I had extra prenat left so I've been taking them.) Or mother's milk tea.

    Thank you!
