Old people love twins...esp girls.

I work at a nursing home as a dining server.  On side is assisted living and the other half is full nursing care.  I work on both sides (same building, the two dining halls are just ft away from each other.  Anyways, we are encouraged to talk to the residents about our families or whatever.  On the assisted living side they are able to talk and remember you.  There are 4 ladies who always sit together.  They know I have kids and when I told them I have twins they were all asking to see pictures.  So I showed them some pics from Valentines day pics I took and they went on and on about them.  One of them had a twin sister who recently just passed away.  She said she would love to meet my girls.

SO, today I was off so I put L on the bus and the girls and I took off.  We went to visit the residents on the assisted living side.

We spent 1.5hrs there.  For most of it one lady played the piano and the girls danced.  They loved them.  When we left the girls gave them all hugs.  The one lady with the twin sister was so happy to see them.

We collected a crowd too.  Between the piano playing and the girls dancing we were running a show I think.  :)

It was a lot of fun to see the residents so excited.  One lady is 94 and was chasing one of the girls around.  This lady is so tiny but is in excellent shape.

I will probably take all 3 over again in the summer when L is out of school and my mom can go with me to help keep up with the kids.

  • Children are always a bright spot at a nursing home. My MIL is in an alzaheimers nursing home and when we bring the kids they always get sooo much attention. It's very sweet to see.
  • That was really sweet of you to do.

  • That is a nice thing to do.  My 91 year old grandfather lives in assisted living and is sharp as a tack.  I make a point of taking DD in when we go get him and drop him back off because the people sitting in the lobby seem to love seeing DD.
  • Oh how fun that you took them there!  You will probably be the talk of the ladies for weeks.  Kids and pets always seem to cheer people up in the nursing homes.
